The technicians at iFixit have disassembled the Oculus Rift to take a look inside the virtual reality headset.
The consumer-ready version of the Oculus Rift is of a higher build quality than its predecessors, and is robust enough to survive regular use.
The inner parts of the headset are delicate and complex, and include a compact motherboard with specialised processing chips.
The Oculus Rift features two high-resolution displays, which account for its high system requirements.
The highlights of the design are the custom-built Fresnel lenses which automatically adjust focus depending on viewing angle, along with the high definition OLED displays for each eye.
