A new Steam controller could already be on the way, reports PCGamesN.
This follows a recent GDC presentation given by Valve employee, Pierre-Loup Griffais on the challenges of creating an entirely new controller.
“In the future, we are working on a hardware revision to the controller to improve look and feel,” says Pierre-Loup Griffais. “But we’re pretty happy with the feature set we have now and do not intend to drastically change it, or even change it at all.
“Maybe we’ll throw extra features in here or there, but the controller’s not gonna grow a new touchpad, or a new set of buttons, or a new major feature.”
There have been a reported 400,000 Steam Controllers sold through since the hardware’s release in October 2015, but a revision so soon could be indicative of some design issues with the current controller.
The controller is not currently available to South African users (shy of importing through third-party sources) but this news means we may never see this current iteration on South African shores.
