Nvidia have teased the world’s first “zero-latency” display.
Nvidia’s Vice President of Research David Luebke broke the news when he took to the stage at Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2016 on 07 April.
The monitor is in fact not completely latency free, but refreshes at 1,700Hz – meaning any delay would be negligible under the human eye.
The new technology is aimed at the Virtual Reality sector in the hopes that the decreased latency will make the VR experience more immersive.
Luebke demonstrated the new technology by shaking the screen on-stage, demonstrating how a superimposed Nvidia logo was barely affected by the movement.
There are other issues that may cause latency, including controller input and computer performance, but this may be a massive step forward for VR (and desktop gaming)
You can see the full zero latency display demonstration in the video below.

I’m not sure latency IS a problem! In games biggest problem is slow GPU. In a video problem is stupid codecs (which skip too much color/stills to reduce size) and rubbish source (e.g. 24 stills/sec what is a cr@p). So no, NVidia, you didn’t impress us – work on better codecs.
