Pascal features

The Pascal architecture is the billion dollar investment behind the GTX 1080, and the GPU showcases the powerful features of the new technology.

SLI HB Bridge

Nvidia’s Pascal architecture allows gamers to use high-bandwidth SLI bridges that are twice the speed of the old SLI connectors. Available only on the GTX 1080.

Simultaneous Multi-Projection

The GTX 1080 brings exciting new technology to the realm of virtual reality with Simultaneous Multi-Projection. This new technology allows the card to render multiple different viewpoints simultaneously, removing distortion errors when playing on multiple different screens.

Ansel

Alongside the GTX 1080, Nvidia released an exciting new in-game capture platform titled Ansel.

Ansel allows gamers to take 360-degree screenshots, ultra-high quality screenshots (up 32x your screen resolution), and stereo 360-degree image capture for VR viewers.

Comparison

Nvidia has stated that the GeForce GTX 1080 is more powerful than two GTX 980s in an SLI configuration.

While, the new card hasn’t seen many benchmark tests yet, a Reddit user collected existing performance data in order to provide a rough comparison of the different architectures.
