We can expect the release of an improved GTX 1080 from Gigabyte, according to a report from VideoCardz.com.
Promotional pictures leaked to the site show the “GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING” – a powerful, modified version of the recently announced Pascal cards.
Gigabyte have been quick to announce their new graphics card design, considering the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 were unveiled on 7 May 2016.
Below is the statement given by Videocardz and the image of the card:
This is in fact first confirmation that custom solutions will appear in June, at least from Gigabyte. It’s hard to say if this means Computex or later date, but Gigabyte are clearly ready with their design.
According to my little research this design is almost identical to GTX 980 Ti XTREME GAMING, so I’m not sure if this was intentional move or GTX 1080 XTREME will really look like its predecessor.
It should be noted that the image is likely only for promotional purposes as, layering a GTX 980 Ti XTREME over the above image shows that the cards are almost identical:
