Netflix recently launched fast.com, a website that helps users test the speed of their broadband connection.
“When you’re experiencing streaming issues, Fast.com allows you to check the download speeds you’re getting from your Internet service provider.”
“Using Netflix servers, Fast.com works like other tools including speedtest.net, and the results should be similar in most cases.”
You can then compare your results with the internet connection speed recommendations on Netflix’s official site:
- 0.5 Megabits per second – Required broadband connection speed
- 1.5 Megabits per second – Recommended broadband connection speed
- 3.0 Megabits per second – Recommended for SD quality
- 5.0 Megabits per second – Recommended for HD quality
- 25 Megabits per second – Recommended for Ultra HD quality
