Which brand of graphics card should you buy?

German hardware site Computerbase has compared over 60 different Nvidia GTX 1080 cards in order to determine which brand gives you the best bang for your buck.

The first thing that is immediately apparent is that Founders Edition cards offer the highest clock speeds across the board.

This doesn’t necessarily equate to the best all-round card however, as is reflected in gaming performance and power used.

The result? The Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Phoenix GLH and the Palit GeForce GTX 1080 Game Rock Premium Edition are the two best all-rounders currently available.

Neither of these cards are currently available to purchase from retail stores in South Africa, but can be sourced from international sites like Newegg.

The next best card, the ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Strix can be purchased from Rebeltech for R14,002.

The only drawback on all three cards are their size. As they boast a three-slot cooler with overhang, you may have to double-check whether your case can properly fit any of them.
