Sony has confirmed that it plans to release 5 0r 6 smartphone games for Android and iOS in the next 18 months, reports The Guardian.
This follows the creation of the ForwardWorks division in March 2016 specifically aimed at the production of smartphone games based on well-known PlayStation characters and intellectual property.
PlayStation already entered into the smartphone market in 2012 through Sony’s Xperia range.
The smartphones allowed users to download a selection of classic and independently produced PlayStation titles.
There is no word as to which IP’s will be featured although names like Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, Wipeout and Gran Turismo have already been mentioned.
This may be the only way forward for Sony’s portable division following the dismal sales of the PlayStation Vita.
