EA announces The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth

10 May 2022

EA has partnered with Middle-earth Enterprises to develop The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, a new free-to-play mobile game.

Heroes of Middle Earth’s beta testing will begin “this summer” but will be regionally limited.

Capital Games, the development team behind Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, will be working on the new title.

The game is a Collectible RPG that will offer players a “strategic, social-competitive experience” set in J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings (LotR) universe.

Players will battle in the most iconic stories from the LotR universe using turn-based combat, in-depth collection systems, and an expansive list of characters from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

“The combination of high-fidelity graphics, cinematic animations, and stylised art immerses players in the fantasy of Middle-earth where they’ll go head-to-head with their favourite characters,” said EA Vice President of Mobile RPG Malachi Boyle.

Unlike the freedom that Amazon is taking with its The Rings of Power TV show, Middle-earth Enterprises Chief Brand & Licensing Officer Fredrica Drotos ensures fans that they are working to bring them “a mobile game solely inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
