Apple working on iOS game controller?

Apple is rumoured to be working on a video game controller for use with the iPhone and iPad.

This is according to AnandTech, who mentioned the previously unknown controller in its iPad review.

“I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen,” the site wrote. “As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.”

No other details were forthcoming, but Apple has previously applied for patents related to gaming controllers.
