Halo: Spartan Assault heading to Windows 8, Windows Phone 8

4 June 2013

Microsoft has announced that Halo: Spartan Assault is a touched-based game coming to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 in July.

The game is being developed by 343 Industries, who developed Halo 4, along with Vanguard Games. Halo: Spartan Assault takes the form of a top-down shooter set in the Halo universe.

The game features all the weapons and vehicles that have become favourites in the franchise, allowing players to hop into a Covenant tank or Warthog to deal out some more damage.

While designed with a touch interface in mind, the game can be played using a mouse and keyboard or Xbox 360 controller with an update following its launch. There was no mention of support for Windows version prior to Windows 8, but there shouldn’t really be any technical reason why it wouldn’t work on at least Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
