Tokyo-based studio Unseen has revealed new details about its debut title, Kemuri – a multiplayer PvE action game first announced at the December 2023 Game Awards.
The new information about the title comes from a video posted by Unseen covering the game’s artwork and other behind-the-scenes details.
This includes brief snippets of what seems to be early alpha or test gameplay, highlighting the action game’s flashy combat and traversal.
The video explores Kemuri’s interesting art style, noting that it is a unique fusion of new and old and draws inspiration from anime to deliver something truly out of this world.
Ikumi Nakamura, Unseen’s founder, also indicates that the development of Kemuri following this video will shift into an extensive phase of playtesting and development, with the title’s release being “a bit further down the road”.
Whether this means we can expect Kemuri to drop later this year is unclear.

Kemuri
Kemuri is an action PvE title in which players will take the role of a Yokai Hunter and engage in stylish combat.
The title was first revealed at the 2023 Game Awards and is the debut game for Unseen – a studio founded in 2021 by Ikumi Nakamura, the former creative director of Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Kemuri will support single-player, co-op, and multiplayer as players explore an enigmatic world and “confront the nature of death, uncover hidden truths, and face the consequences of their choices”.
There has not yet been an official announcement of which platforms Kemuri will be available on, nor has an official release date been revealed.
