Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders have opened in South Africa as of midnight, with the standard edition priced at R1,499.
The deluxe edition – which includes includes an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, and apparel – will retail for R1,899.
Both versions are available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store, as well as on the Xbox section of the Microsoft Store.
The US pre-order pricing had already been announced, with the Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition priced at $79.99 and $99.99 respectively.
When factoring in VAT, local prices are therefore in line with US pricing.
Rockstar Games – the developer of the GTA series – has also announced that all purchases made before 20 November (the day after the game releases) will include additional in-game content.
This takes the form of the Vintage Vice City Pack, which is a collection of items that harken back to the popular GTA Vice City game.
“Players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will be able to begin pre-loading on 12 November 2026 to ensure they are able to play at launch on 19 November 2026,” Rockstar Games said.
“The physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI, containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting 12 November 2026 to support pre-loading.”
Pre-orders finally open
The release of pre-orders at midnight follows a long wait for fans of the series that has been riddled with delays.
Rockstar first revealed that GTA 6 was in development in February 2022 and dropped its first trailer in December 2023.
Since then, an additional trailer was dropped in May 2025, with an initial release date tabled for 2025.
However, it was first delayed to 26 May 2026, and then delayed again to the current release date of 19 November 2026.
Furthermore, the previous game in the series, GTA 5, was launched back in 2013 – and the 13 year gap between titles has become a regular source of humour online.
Setting
The sixth game in the series takes place in Vice City, a fictitious version of Miami, and features two main characters: Jason and Lucia.
The story for GTA 6 centres on Jason and Lucia after a job goes wrong, as they get involved in a conspiracy that spans the state of Leonida.
