Mass Effect 3 on PC doesn’t support controllers

16 February 2012

What with Mass Effect being a big thing on Xbox and all that, it’s probably reasonable to assume the PC version will officially support game pads like the Xbox controller, right? WRONG.

The news comes from BioWare community manager, Chris Priestly, who confirmed on the forums that “The PC version does not support controllers. They may or may not work, but they are unsupported by the game.”

The post has subsequently generated quite a bit of controversy, with several users responding with entire treatises on why the decision is a bad one, and somebody called Anachronian Stryx coming in with the definitive zinger, “Still mind-boggeling that you guys  got less costumization that a bug-standard indie development studio.” (sic)

OH, SNAP. I think. Still, it’s not like the first two games supported controllers on PC, anyway.

The game’s already finished up and packed off to the disc factory, so if BioWare’s going to add controller support, it’ll have to be in a patch.

Mass Effect 3 is out on 9 March, with controller support on Xbox and PS3, and better graphics on PC.
