Unity Technologies has announced that its Unity Engine will be heading to various Playstation platforms in the future.

This means that games built using the Unity Engine can be ported to PS3, PS Vita, PS Mobile, and the Playstation 4.

The Unity Engine is widely used in the gaming industry and has become so popular due to its democratisation of game development. The engine is available to almost anyone, and big and small development studios utilise the technology.

Unity can help with all the heavy lifting when porting to other platforms, as it can convert game code to fit whatever system.

EA, Ubisoft and Square Enix are some of the big names that use Unity Engine for a number of different projects.

Games powered by Unity include Escape Plan, Dead Trigger 2, Death Inc, and the locally developed Bladeslinger.
