In an Earth-shattering turn of events that will redefine the way the gaming industry moves into the next-generation, Activision confirmed it will not be releasing a Call of Duty title in 2014.

During a 7 November conference call with investors, Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick confirmed that a new Call of Duty title will release in 2014.

“We also expect to launch new Call of Duty and Skylanders titles and a major new potential franchise with Bungie’s Destiny,” said Kotick.

Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games are reportedly the studios behind the development.

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts launched around the globe on 5 November 2013. Review scores for Call of Duty Ghosts were lukewarm and a collective grumble has been rolling around the message boards regarding the perceived “average” quality of the title.

Despite this, it will no doubt be a best-seller, with Activision already reporting US$1-billion worth of

the game sold through to retail.
