EA and DICE recently announced that they will be updating Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with four new multiplayer maps in their VIP Map Pack 7.
MyGaming previously had a look at two of the maps which will be included in the pack – Heavy Metal and Oasis.
Details have emerged on the final two maps – Cold War and Harvest Day.
Cold War
The Cold War map will be recognized by players as a level from the singleplayer campaign, where action takes place in a small village tucked into the Russian mountains. The design of this map will make for some close quarters, building-to-building infantry combat.

The primary game mode is Rush, with the Russian team deploying a counter-attack in an attempt to regain control of a US held base. The roles are reversed to those of the single player experience. In the multiplayer Rush case, the Russians will be fighting downhill with the goal of pushing the US back into the frozen river.
Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch are the alternate modes.
This map was chosen because its narrow alleys, head-on combat and disorienting snow-swept environment offer a good contrast to the large vehicle centric maps such as Heavy Metal and Harvest Day.
Harvest Day
Harvest Day is the second remake of a popular map from Bad Company 1, the other being Oasis. The remastered map is vehicle oriented featuring heavy tanks, CAV’s and plenty of quads, with hotspots for infantry combat. The environment is that of sprawling agricultural lands bathed in Autumn colours and lighting.

Harvest Day supports all four game modes, but it is primary designed as a Conquest map, with four flag points. The layout of the original Harvest Day map has been retained, but of course updated with new Bad Company 2 engine features such as destruction 2.0.
The Rush mode will begin with a heavy tank clash in the open fields and later the gameplay will change to infantry centric battles within the farming village. Squad based modes take place exclusively within the village area.

There is still no set date on when the VIP Map Pack 7 will be launched. As always, the map pack is free to those who own an EA Online pass on console version, or a registered PC version.
