Why you can’t play Pokemon GO at this year’s elections

There will be no catching them all this year’s municipal elections, reports Times Live.

This follows a ban on any “selfie-taking” at this year’s elections following possible security concerns.

“It is an offence to take and/or publish photographs which reveal a person’s vote on a ballot paper. Upon conviction offenders will be liable to a fine or a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year,”said IEC spokesperson Kate Bapela about “selfies” 2014.

While it was not viable to take away all voters’ cellphones as they entered the booths, the organisation asked people to respect the law.

Times Live contacted the IEC directly for comment who responded with “a rather amused answer being a flat “no”.

“So even if you see that charizard just begging for an EFF red beret by the side of the line‚ or an ANC-yellow pikachu‚ or DA-blue blastoise‚ you are sadly not allowed to catch it at your polling station on August 3.”

This means you will just have to stand bored in line and wait like everyone else there.
