Niantic begins issuing permanent bans to Pokemon GO cheaters

After recently stating that it would begin cracking down on Pokemon GO cheaters, Niantic has wasted no time implementing its new policy.

Niantic has begun issuing permanent bans to players for a number of Terms of Service violations, including GPS spoofing and other software techniques aimed at manipulating the base game.

A Reddit user shared the following email he received from Niantic after his account was banned from Pokemon GO:

Niantic has been consistently shutting down third-party Pokemon GO apps and spoofing services, although its own tracking features have not been flawless.

These permanent bans are likely to target regular cheaters and third-party app users, but many users are worried that they will be caught in the crossfire for downloading third-party apps or using unofficial Pokemon GO services such as PokeAdvisor.
