Nintendo has increased production of its SNES Classic gaming console, the Financial Times reports.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé told the Financial Times that consumers should not overbid on the SNES Classic Edition on any auction sites.

He said the company is planning to have more stock of its SNES Classic than it did of the NES Classic Mini at launch.

The NES Classic Mini experienced major stock shortages due to high demand and limited production runs.

Fils-Aimé said the company produced lower volumes of the NES Classic Mini due to historically low sales of retro gaming devices from other manufacturers.

The SNES Classic Edition will be available from 29 September for $80.
