We have confirmation from Matthew Grose, general manager of Core Gaming, the SA distributors of Nintendo products, that the revised Nintendo Wii Family Edition bundle will be available in South Africa mid-to-late October 2011.
The recommended retail price (RRP) is R1,599.
The Wii Family Edition includes Wii Sports and mini-game compilation Wii Party. The reconfigured white Wii console was designed to sit horizontally (opposed to the traditional vertical Wii) and does not feature backwards compatibility with Game Cube. The console comes with a Wii Remote Plus controller and a Nunchuk.
Wii Party boasts more than 80 group-play mini-games, with support for up to four Wii Remote controllers. Wii Sports offers five sports games using motion control: Tennis; Baseball; Golf; Bowling; and Boxing.
The Wii Fit Plus pack was also recently announced, and Core Gaming has confirmed local pricing and availability.
The Wii Fit Plus pack with black Balance Board and Wii Fit Plus software has an RRP of R999 and will be available from mid-to late November.
The Wii Fit Plus bundle which includes an original black Wii console will not be available in SA.
There is no confirmation on the blue Wii Mario & Sonic bundle at this stage. That bundle will be hitting UK shelves on 18 November.
