This is why businesses want you to keep playing Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO will allow companies to pay to have their real-world locations appear on the game’s virtual map, reports the New York Times.

Niantic said that Pokemon GO would include “sponsored locations” in the future, further monetising the free-to-play game.

It is rumoured that these sponsored locations will include McDonalds, as the fast-food company’s logo is present within the game’s source code.

In addition to the future implementation of sponsored locations, businesses are also cashing in on Pokemon GO’s popularity by using Lures.

Lures attract Pokemon to certain locations, and businesses have begun using them to attract both Pokemon and customers to their shops.
