Nintendo’s upcoming NX will be a portable, handheld console with detachable controllers, a number of sources have confirmed to Eurogamer.

Specifically, the NX will act as its own console with the screen being screen book-ended by two controller sections on either side.

You can also plug this console directly into your television (with the aid of a base unit, or dock station) allowing for a more traditional console experience.

Nintendo is reported to also be returning to cartridges, with initial reports indicating they may hold as little as 32GB of space.

Due to this new hardware design and a return to cartridges, there will also be no backwards compatibility with the Wii U or other Nintendo consoles.

The Nintendo NX is set for worldwide release in March 2017.
