Games you can play this week – capes and crepes

August is finally here, and it brings with it a whole bunch of new titles to treat gamers. This week, we’re already getting a new superhero adventure and a cook-off worth getting excited about.

Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 1

2 August (Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Mobile).

The first episode of Telltale’s story-driven Batman game arrives this week, and based on what we’ve seen so far, this looks like it’s going to be an epic and unique look at the Dark Knight’s adventures.

In the first episode of the series, we see Bruce Wayne struggling with the duality of his personality: being the millionaire playboy and the avenging knight of Gotham. The episode will deal with Harvey Dent throwing his hat in the ring for mayor of Gotham and the influence of the Falcone family, while addressing the trouble brewing in Gotham. Navigate the world of Gotham as both Bruce Wayne and Batman with a choice to approach some situations as either one.

Batman – The Telltale Series also introduces a new feature called “crowd play” where players can allow people to watch your game session and participate in how to approach making decisions in the game. The game features a talent cast of voice actors including Troy Baker as Bruce Wayne, Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle, and more.

Overcooked

3 August (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

In Overcooked, players must work together to prep, cook and serve up food for waiting customers. Either solo or in couch co-up with three other friends, players will be scrambling to get orders out.

The game’s solo campaign features twenty-eight levels with a final boss to conquer. It pits players on a quest to become the best chef around in order to save the endangered Onion Kingdom. You’ll have to cook a variety of dishes in a number of unorthodox kitchens like pirate ships, fiery volcanoes and more to become the next top chef.

Couch co-op can support four players and allow friends to work together through the game’s campaign. If you prefer to prove who is the best virtual chef, you can try out nine versus levels in 2-on-2 or 1-on-1 matches.
