Graphics card names and what they actually mean

With the release of Nvidia and AMD’s new generation of graphics cards, now has never been a better time to upgrade your gaming rig.

While the hardware may be new the confusing naming conventions certainly aren’t, and unless you are relatively clued up on exactly which card you want, it can be a chore figuring out whether you are actually getting the best value for money.

That’s why Reddit user Valkrins has thoughtfully put together a handy visual guide to AMD and Nvidia’s newer cards.

We also managed to track down why AMD changed its naming convention from the standard R6 and R7 cards to the new RX branding.
