Nvidia has officially unveiled its GeForce GTX 10 Series lineup of mobile graphics cards for notebooks.
The cards are based on the GeForce GTX 1080, 1070 and 1060 respectively, and promise to match their desktop counterparts in nearly every way, including full VR capability.
This is thanks to huge energy-efficiency gains with the Pascal architecture and the new 16nm FinFet fabrication process, reports TechPowerUp.
“This round of NVIDIA’s mobile GPUs aren’t “gimped out” in comparison its desktop discrete GPU lineup, in that the SKUs don’t feature fewer CUDA cores than their corresponding desktop counterparts.”
“The lineup begins with the GTX 1080 Mobile. Based on the GP104 silicon, this chip features all 2,560 CUDA cores, 160 TMUs, and 64 ROPs physically present on the chip. The chip is endowed with 8 GB of 256-bit GDDR5X memory ticking at 10 Gbps.”
Similarly, the 1070M and 1060M are also comparable to their desktop counterparts.
The GeForce GTX 1070M offers 2,048 CUDA cores (the desktop GTX 1070 features 1,920), 128 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 8 GB of 256-bit GDDR5 memory running at 8 Gbps, while the GeForce GTX 1060M features 1,280 CUDA cores, 80 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and 6 GB of 192-bit GDDR5 memory running at 8 Gbps.
Acer, Alienware, Asus, Clevo, EVGA, HP, Gigabyte, Lenovo, MSI, Origin, Razer, Sager and XMG are just some of the OEMs which signed up to make laptops with the new Pascal chips.
As such, expect new laptop announcements featuring the GTX 10 lineup shortly.
