Half-Life 3 poster appears at Gamescom

16 August 2016

A giant Half-Life  3 banner is currently adorning the entrance hall to the Koelnmesse as part of this week’s Gamescom conference in Cologne.

Naturally, this prompted the internet to go wild. But before you get your hopes up, it appears the poster is either a very clever or very mean marketing ploy by two marketing companies, reports Eurogamer.

Reading the two sentences together reveals what the poster is actually advertising – “Half-Life: 3 editors who played it back then.”

It likely refers to some session being held at Gamescom this week, but the internet is already viewing it as one of the biggest trolls of the year.
