This fan-made Pokemon MMO is secretly one of the best games this year

One of the biggest reasons for Pokemon GO’s overnight was its ability to tap into the original Gameboy games’ nostalgia.

Finally, players were given the chance to catch ’em all in the real world thanks to Pokemon GO.

Unfortunately the experience wasn’t very deep, and those coming to the game looking for the classic turn-based gameplay left sorely disappointed.

Pokemon Revolution Online (Pokemon PRO) may be just the thing for you.

It takes the classic game formula and makes it massively multiplayer.

That means all the regions, Pokemon, and gyms are exactly the same but the all the trainers in the world are all real people.

Players can trade and battle in real-time (with the option to turn instant battling off) and you can see where people are catching the best Pokemon as they swarm the bushes around the world.

It’s also arguably more balanced than the original games, and you will have to actually build your team according to an opponents strengths and weaknesses rather than just power-levelling.

The game is currently in a live beta but developers Apricity Labs have gone on record to say that like the best MMOs, the game will never truly be complete.

You can download Pokemon PRO here.
