Windows 10 won’t let people with bad PCs review games

26 September 2016

Windows 10 will not let gamers with specifications below the minimum requirements rate or review a game.

This comes via confirmation of Reddit user nuplsstahp, who received the error message:

“This app needs hardware that your device doesn’t have, which will hinder app performance. rating and reviewing is turned off.”

On the one hand this is great, as it will cut down on reviews that concern technical issues and encourage ratings to focus on the game itself.

On the other hand, some games are perfectly playable below system requirements (especially if they are disproportionately high) and this could lock out genuine reviews.
