Following the divisive and controversial launch of No Man’s Sky, developer Hello Games has recently remained quiet and out of the spotlight.
This may change soon however, as the Advertising Standards Authority has confirmed to Eurogamer that it has launched an investigation into No Man’s Sky.
The Authority reportedly received several complaints and although it has declined to offer further comment regarding the investigation, one of the complainants has posted an official response from the ASA on Reddit.
The complaint was related to the No Man’s Sky Steam Store page, meaning that Valve has been included in the investigation.
While the investigation concerns the material on Steam, the ruling will apply to all other advertising for No Man’s Sky, such as official trailers on YouTube.
According to the ASA response, below are the primary discrepancies between the advertising material and the actual game:
Videos
- User interface design
- Ship flying behaviour (in formation; with a ‘wingman’; flying close to the ground)
- Behaviour of animals (in herds; destroying scenery; in water; reacting to surroundings)
- Large-scale space combat
- Structures and buildings as pictured
- Flowing water
- Speed of galaxy warp/loading time
- Aiming systems
Screenshots
- Size of creatures (9)
- Behaviour of ships and sentinels (4, 5 and 8)
- Structures and buildings as pictured (3)
Store Page
- Quality of graphics
- References to: lack of loading screens, trade convoys between stars, factions vying over territory

To be honest, i blame Sony for this they over hyped the game, its not a AAA game its an indie game with a massive idea behind it, Sony pushed too hard.
