Those of you who owned a copy of Spiderman 2 on the PlayStation 2 (or another console) would have experienced the best superhero game of that generation.
Why was it the best?
Not because of the story, graphics or soundtrack but because of how damn good it felt to swing around the city.
The web-swinging was modeled on real-world physics meaning you actually had to connect to buildings and quite literally throw yourself around the city.
No game has done it properly since (not even other Spiderman games), until now.
Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan is also not a great game by all accounts.
It’s graphically quite stylish, but the mundane fetch quests that serve to act as a storyline and the repeated taking down of Titans begins to grate after a while.
But it’s the gameplay that truly shines, as each character is given an omni-directional jetpack that has you zipping between Titans and buildings at breackneck speeds.
It plays remarkably like the aforementioned Spiderman game (I’m not the only one who thinks so) and it’s an absolute blast to just swing around.
If you’re looking for your superhero fix this year, the unlikely Attack on Titan is the best there is.
