Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sprays will now cost you over R20

10 October 2016

Valve has started charging Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players to use sprays.

On the South African Steam store, the new Graffitti box costs R21.67 and will net you one of the rarer sprays.

Sprays have long been a part of online gaming. They gave you a creative way to express your character at a time when voice-chat wasn’t feasible and tied into the rebellious counter-culture of gaming at the time.

That’s why gamers were rather upset when Valve removed sprays from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Now they’re back, and Valve has made them both limited-use and a paid-for cosmetic item in the game.

“Now each spray uses up a chunk of your can. A full can lasts for 50 sprays. Any more than this and you’ll have to pay for a paint refill,” reports GameDebate.

The sprays are also no longer custom and can only be earned in unlockable crates or through the in-game store.

Many gamers have voiced their frustration and anger with the game’s latest update, Kotaku reports.

“Is anyone else upset or mildly enraged that Valve literally took away a feature that was in the game for over a decade and are now charging us money for it?” Reddit user djdevilmonkey asked in a post.
