Watch: Footage of cancelled Metallica game emerges online

18 October 2016

There have been some pretty great-looking games that have never seen the light of day, and another project to throw into that pile is Damage Inc.: Metallica, a cancelled game which starred and was inspired by the iconic rock group.

Sitting somewhere between Twisted Metal and Grand Theft Auto, Damage Inc. was designed to be a vehicular combat game with elements of on-foot roaming, where players could use their tools of destruction to wreck havoc in a post-apocalyptic world.

After years of development and the game being scrapped (and completely unknown to the general public), a video has surfaced showing the game in action, some artwork, as well as its initial trailer.

Vivendi Universal was set to publish the game, however it’s believed that the company was looking for a reason to drop the game, and also cites licensing issues as a major reason why the game was never released.
