What to expect from the Windows 10 Creators Update

Windows 10

Microsoft has announced the Windows 10 Creators Update, the next big release for Windows 10.

The update will be available between March and May 2017, and will focus on features such as 3D content creation and gaming.

“We are expanding on our vision of mixed reality,” said Microsoft’s executive vice president of the Windows and Devices Group, Terry Myerson.

This includes augmented reality, virtual reality, and HoloLens. Microsoft said the update will empower everyone to create in 3D.

Another set of features launching in the update will offer gamers the best experience in 4K gaming and broadcasting, said Myerson.

Paint 3D

One of the new apps coming in the Creators Update for Windows 10 is Paint 3D.

Microsoft said it will roll out apps to mobile devices that will allow you to capture objects in the real world through a smartphone’s camera and turn them into 3D models.

These models may be imported into Paint 3D and manipulated as part of a larger 3D image.

Microsoft announced a community for 3D creators, Remix3d.com, along with a partnership with SketchUp by Trimble.

This will bring SketchUp creations to the Paint 3D community, said Microsoft.

Microsoft gave an example of Paint 3D’s functionality by stating that Minecraft players can export their in-game creations to Paint 3D and then 3D print them from the app.
