No Man's Sky landed

No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has finally broken its silence on the negative reception of its debut game, but not in the way anybody anticipated.

Hello Games sent out a tweet earlier today that simply stated: “No Man’s Sky was a mistake”.

The tweet was quickly deleted, but not before thousands of followers replied and users were able to take screenshots.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray quickly tweeted that the server was hacked, and that the team was quickly working to resolve the problem.

However, several publications have received conflicting reports from Hello Games, causing confusion as to the origin of the tweet.

Forbes reports that the tweet was the work of a disgruntled employee and that the company was sorting out the issue.

Interestingly, Polygon reported that the tweet was from Murray himself, with the Hello Games founder stating that the team has not been coping well.

“The tweet is from me, but somebody from the team took it down, we have not been coping well,” said Murray to Polygon.

Whether the Hello Games Twitter account was hacked or Murray sent out the tweet himself, at least the No Man’s Sky developer is talking for the first time in over 2 months.

Update: HelloGames has said it is no longer hacked, but not before a weird question from the No Man’s Sky account.
