Crysis 2 DX11 patch “was never confirmed”

29 March 2011

Over the weekend reports emerged that a Crysis 2 PC patch which would introduce DirectX 11 support would be released on Monday. According to German publication PC-Max, the patch was to be released on “28.3”,  and would “also integrate an expanded graphics menu.”

This did not happen, and a Crytek employee has posted the following statement in the official Crysis forums.

“No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information.”

“This thread is locked just the same as the others for trying to spread inaccurate information. When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don’t see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn’t genuine.”

Crytek’s principle R&D graphics programmer, Tiago Sousa, did however confirm via his twitter profile that the team is currently working on a DirectX 11 patch. The comment has since been removed from his profile.

Current global speculation suggests that the DX11 patch will be released in about two weeks from now, which should be just in time for most gamers to have finished the single player game.
