Watch Dogs 2 Review Roundup

Watch Dogs 2 has just released, and reviews are flooding in from various online critics.

The game has experienced a relatively problem-free launch despite small multiplayer issues, with many critics praising its design improvements over its predecessor.

Watch Dogs 2 is now available for PlayStation and Xbox One. The game will release on 29 November for PC.

Check out what the critics had to say about Watch Dogs 2:

The Jimquisition – 9/10

“Watch Dogs 2 is a great game as a rock solid action title, but being unafraid of its own nonsense is what makes it a truly pleasurable experience.”

Forbes – 9/10

“This is the game the original Watch Dogs should have been in many ways, and while it may still have more to learn, it’s hard to say that Watch Dogs 2 is anything but a success, and proof that Ubisoft can learn from their mistakes.”

IGN – 6.5/10

“It’s a shame Watch Dogs 2 is coming out in this partially crippled condition, because even though I wish I could recommend it more strongly, I can’t yet.

If I had to score it now, I’d give it a 6.5 for okay, because I don’t think people should buy it right now unless they have no interest in the multiplayer portion.

I do hope and expect that I’ll be able to raise that score in my final review, which will come later this week.”

“Watch Dogs 2 might very well be the best open world game of 2016. It offers ton of content, different ways to complete missions and brilliant visuals.

If you are a fan of open world games, you should be playing Watch Dogs 2. Period.”

Attack of the Fanboy – 4/5

“Watch Dogs 2 is about what you would expect in a sequel, as it reworks what didn’t click the first time around and expands upon what did.

The game’s protagonist and accompanying cast of characters are fun to watch, and the hacking mechanics are better than ever. It’s just too bad that the overall story is forgettable, as it never really sucks you in despite its best efforts.

Even so, those looking for an open-world experience mixed with fantastic hacking mechanics likely won’t be disappointed with what Watch Dogs 2 has to offer.”

Pure PlayStation – 8.5/10

“Nasty bugs aside, Watch Dogs 2 is a superb game. A true improvement over the franchise’s first outing in just about every sense.

A wicked cast of characters backed up by some sharp and witting writing. A visual treat for the eyes and a good mental workout with those mind-bending puzzles.

A bloody good game, basically.

If you’ve a gap where Assassin’s Creed would normally be at this time of year, Watch Dogs 2 will fill the gap, make another gap, and fill that one too.”

Destructoid – 8.5/10

“I expected Watch Dogs 2 to be a paint-by-numbers sequel — more guns, more cars, a bigger playground.

Instead, it gives players freedom to play with the world with hackmagic the way they want to, and crafts a memorable, mostly light-hearted story that’s just a lot of fun.

Considering the heavy subject matter woven in, that’s even more of an accomplishment than it seems like. After playing a bit of the first game, I was dreaming of a better second game with a much more compelling main character.

Now, after finishing the second? I’m ready for the third game, but can we stick with Marcus for the rest of the series?”
