Ubisoft’s Anno franchise has come to be one of the most respected management series ever developed, with the most recent Anno 1404 being particularly excellent.
In a bold move, Related Designs has announced that it will be taking the series into the future with Anno 2070. Apparently Anno 2070 will focus on current and near future challenges for civilisation, such as climate change and ecological disasters.
Players will be able to choose between playing as the industry driven Tycoon faction of the eco-friendly Ecos as they shape the world of tomorrow.
“Anno 2070 is a very ambitious game that will feel both familiar and fresh to fans of the series,” insisted Ubisoft brand director Caroline Stevens.
“Due to the game’s futuristic setting, the development team wasn’t restricted by historical boundaries and was able to dream bigger than ever before. It’s a new take on a great franchise that both newcomers and longtime fans will love.”
Not much more is currently know about Anno 2070, although Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be released sometime this year.
