Steam has announced that it is turning to its community to nominate games for this year’s Steam Awards.
“This November you will get to choose nominees for 8 different categories as well as have the opportunity to create your very own award category,” Steam said.
To nominate games, search for them in the Steam store, then click “Nominate this game for an award” and select a category for that game.
You may edit nominations by going to a game’s store page and clicking on “edit” to change or remove your nomination.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
The “Test of Time” Award
Break out the ‘Member Berries, it’s time to take a trip down nostalgia lane and pick the game that’s as good today as the day you first played it.
The “I’m Not Crying, There’s Something In My Eye” Award
Which game gave you the feels?
The “Just 5 More Minutes” Award
Which game had you skipping work?
The “Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!” Award
Plot twist! This award is actually a sentient android.
The “Villain Most In Need Of A Hug” Award
Come on! They made a Game of Thrones game, so we all know where this award is going.
The “Game Within A Game” Award
If you don’t nominate Gwent, I will know, and I will come for you.
The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award
Tell the whole world about your undiscovered gems. Pro tip: Don’t nominate your favourite little-known multiplayer games unless you’re cool with the influx of dick jokes that invariably come with popularity.
The “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” Award
Hold my beer, I got this.
The “We Didn’t Think Of Everything” Award
I wonder how Steam decided between this and YOUR CATEGORY NAME HERE for the name of this award.
For the “We Didn’t Think Of Everything” Award, Steam explained that senior members of the Steam Awards Selection Committee will review the most popular user submitted categories and select the best ones.
You will be rewarded with special badges depending on your level of participation. The tasks associated with each badge are:
- Nominate at least 1 game
- Nominate a game in each category
- Play a game you’ve nominated
- Review (or update your review) for a game you’ve nominated
