We are thrilled to report that Valve’s long awaited puzzle solving sequel, Portal 2, is now available for purchase on Steam. The game is going for $49.99 (R343), or you can double up and buy a two pack for $89.98 (R315 each).
Portal 2 has won a variety of pre-release awards, including Game Informer’s Best of Show award at E3 2010.
“The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers.”

“The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters.”
Editing tools are also confirmed to be released after the game’s launch.

Unfortunately, local console gamers and PC gamers who don’t have the bandwidth to burn to download Portal 2 will have to wait until Friday to get their retail copy. On the plus side though, the local PC retail version can be found for around R310, making it a bit cheaper than the Steam version.
The console version is currently on pre-order at dedicated games retailers for around R430. Purchasing the PS3 version will get you a free download code for the PC version, making it an ideal option for multiplatform gamers.
