Sometimes we love going back to the past and playing games we spent hours on a few years ago. Last year we saw some awesome collections and remasters release as upgraded versions like Bioshock: The Collection, Skyrim Remastered, and Amnesia.
There are a few more games we would love to play again on our current hardware, perhaps with higher resolutions and remastered textures.
Here are a few game collections we would love to see released in 2017.
Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy
Although most of us are all still deep in Final Fantasy XV, it would be great to have the Lightning trilogy release as a package.
Final Fantasy XIII was an great experience and its successors, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, would make for a great experience in its complete collection.
For those who missed out on the games and those who loved them, to go back and play them would be pretty cool.
With the power of current hardware, Square Enix could reach new limits with resolution and graphical capabilities in the games. Perhaps even get them to run at 4K on PS4 Pro.
We will soon be exploring a new galaxy when Mass Effect Andromeda releases in March, but the original three Mass Effect games were so phenomenal, that they should be remastered as one collection.
Mass Effect 3 in particular, was the peak of the series as the climatic end of the Commander Shepard came to be. The series also had a handful of DLC packs and expansions that could be included into the package as a “complete edition”.
We are not asking for any multiplayer, just the three games so we can spend a few hundred hours saving the galaxy.
Ratchet and Clank
In all honesty, there are not enough great platforming games on the current hardware, and the Ratchet and Clank series would be the best addition to change all this.
Last year’s reboot was met with great success. Winning multiple Game of the Year Awards, and taking home the PlayStation Blog People’s Choice Award, the game is a must play for all PS4 owners.
Now imagine if we could play all four Ratchet and Clank games on PS4? The three original games and the arena-based one, Gladiator.
It would be the ultimate love letter to Ratchet and Clank fans around the world, and as the 2016 release proved, there are millions out there.
GTA IV Collection
Although GTA IV was a standalone game, it has so many awesome DLC packs that it could warrant a collection on its own.
The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and the Damned were two fantastic DLC packs that everyone should experience once in their life.
Rockstar could learn a thing or two from modders who have released visual mods for the game that makes it look realistic, and perhaps add something on those lines to the collection, to make it up to standard with today’s games.
Regardless, with or without the visual push, the game is a classic and needs to be available to play on current hardware.
Fallout 3 | New Vegas
While Fallout 4 is still thriving with DLC and new patches, it would be nice to take a trip back to the time when the nuclear apocalypse hit Washington D.C and turned it into a Capital Wasteland.
Maybe we can take a trip to New Vegas and get caught up in the gangs there?
Fallout offers hours upon hours of gameplay, and the two games from past generation could be a great addition to anyone’s library.
They would need a bit of a tweak here and there to make them run a little more stable, though.
Call of Duty Classic Collection
The Call of Duty series has spanned across various historical eras and the best years of the series was back when it was based in the World War I and World War II era.
A collection of the original Call of Duty all the way up to World at War would be the best thing to happen to the series.
We all miss the classic Call of Duty games that paid tribute to historical events that actually happened.
World at War was my favorite Call of Duty of all time. To replay the classics again would be a dream come true.
