The NPD Group has released its 2016 sales figures for the US video game industry.

Total consumer spend across the country increased to $30.4 billion in 2016.

This is an increase in total spend from 2015 sales, which was reported at $30.2 billion.

Listed below are the best-selling video games across all platforms in the United States in 2016, including physical and digital sales.

Top 10 video games of 2016

  1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  2. Battlefield 1
  3. Tom Clancy’s The Division
  4. NBA 2K17
  5. Madden NFL 17
  6. Grand Theft Auto V
  7. Overwatch
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  9. FIFA 17
  10. Final Fantasy XV

Hardware and Software Sales

The NPD Group also analysed US video game sales in December 2016 compared to 2015, looking at hardware, console games, PC games, and video game accessory trends.

These figures do not cover total consumer spend for video games in 2016, only the month of December.
