Best games you can play this week – wars and weirdos

We’ve got another big week of gaming excitement ahead of us, as a sequel to Halo Wars finally emerges from the shadows, along with an indie title worth your attention, and a love-letter to anime fans.

Halo Wars 2

21 February 2017 (Xbox One, PC)

It’s been a long time coming for Halo Wars 2. Sequel to the 2009 real-time strategy game Halo Wars, the game brings a new threat to the UNSC crew. Instead of the Covenant, the human will be facing against a new alien faction known as the Banished.

Coming from the same studios that’s behind the superlative Total War series, we have high expectations from this one.

Night in the Woods

21 February 2017 (PS4, PC)

Night in the Woods is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. After a successful Kickstarter it’s being made by Infinite Fall, a teamup of Alec Holowka (Aquaria), Scott Benson (Late Night Work Club), and Bethany Hockenberry.

The game follows Mae, a cat who returns home from college to her beleaguered rust-belt town, but something is amiss. Night in the Woods looks jam-packed with lavish visuals and dense dialogue, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
