5 of the best multiplayer games you need to play

Overwatch

Multiplayer, the ability to face off against, and with other players in intense combat. Foul words are flying all over the place, hate texts fill the chat screen, and of course the teabags are spammed.

We have to love our multiplayer games, as they have evolved so much over the past few years. We have gone from LANs being the ultimate multiplayer experience, to fully-fledged online games that everyone can join in on.

Saying that, there are some better multiplayer games around than others. Some of these deserve to be played by everyone and anyone, so lets take a look shall we?

Overwatch

There is no doubt that Overwatch is still going strong. Released last year May, Blizzard put a lot of love into their first ever IP in 16 years, and we can tell. It is just a multiplayer game, and I keep stating this, but I cannot stop myself from going back to it on a daily basis.

Every single match in Overwatch plays out differently as team formations and all 24 heroes add multiple layers of combat and tactics to the game. Every hero is also great to use, as the amount of polish and love put into them all, is beyond anything you will expect in a multiplayer game.

As Overwatch grows with new heroes and maps to play on, it becomes more and more exciting. It is a must-have game for anyone itching to get into a cool multiplayer experience, or have never tried it out. Chances are you will love it.

Battlefield 1

Two words; local servers. That is right, whenever a game gets local servers in SA, it just has to be on your list. What other way to play a multiplayer game that on 7 ping? It is really a match made in heaven, or a match made on the cliffs of Monte Grappa if want.

Battlefield 1 has been a huge success, and it is thanks to the game’s awesome combat, and fantastic multiplayer. This year we also have new DLC headed to the game with new maps, guns, and locations to kill people on. The game’s awesome squad system lets you form up with friends and really work as a team to take down the enemy.

Spawning on your friend while he rides a tank through the battlefield, to help him burn oncoming enemies alive using the flamethrower, has never felt better.

Gears of War 4

Gears of War has not had a multiplayer face lift once in its lifetime, and we love it for that. Just recently it was announced that the game will be getting two new maps, as well as ranked competitive multiplayer. This means that you will be able to go head to head against other players in a more serious way.

If competitive is not your thing, then grab some friends and head into the standard multiplayer which is very fun. The game also has a an awesome Horde Mode that sees you and your team work together to take on waves of enemies. It will probably end up with your team in peices on the floor and you screaming at each other, but it will still be fun.

Halo 5: Guardians

Say what you want about the Halo 5 campaign, the game had the best multiplayer in the series to date, and it grew beyond anything we ever thought after the launch.

The classic Red vs Blue was still the game’s highlight feature, while it also introduced new ways to play in the Warzone game mode, that introduced a mix of PvP and a mix of PvE. 343 Industries successfully merged the old with the new in Halo 5: Guardians’ multiplayer, and it resulted in a solid experience that feels great, and stands on its own in a unique game.

Dota 2

While I don’t personally play Dota 2 seen as I was once attacked verbally for being a complete noob at it, I have friends that swear by it, and I can believe that it is a fun game.

It is all about team work, and when you form up with a group of friends, things can get quite intense, and it can either make of break friendships. Dota 2 has over 100 heroes to choose form when playing the game, and various maps to experience each one on.

The gameplay elements and combination of heroes, plays homage to game like Overwatch and Smite, where every match is so different from the past, as you need to know your character, and how to counter your enemy with it.

So there you have 5 multiplayer games I recommend. What do you enjoy playing? Let us know in the comments and forum.
