10 games we cannot wait to play in 2018

Monster Hunter World

December is just a few days away and to just think that in a months time we will be prepping for a new year.

A whole new year already, and while many challenges await we do have something to look forward to 2018 and that is the awesome lineup of games coming our way.

2018 already looks awesome as the first few months of the year already have at least one triple-A title each to keep our wallets empty and our couch cushioned.

Here are 10 games that we cannot wait to play in the year ahead.

10. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – PS4, PC

Releasing: 19 January 2018

The greatest new IP JRPGs from the PS3 era returns in early January as a direct sequel to the original. While it does not have Studio Ghibli at the helm, Ni No Kuni II is surely going to be another masterpiece that will have all the stunning locations, magical cutscenes, and of course a soundtrack that will give you chills.

The game has a brand new combat system that is faster and more controllable than the original and also lets you control little creatures known as Higgledies that will aid your party in battle. A new world, new characters and a new anime-styled RPG. What more can you ask for?

9. Monster Hunter World – PS4, Xbox One, PC

Releasing: 26 January 2018

It has been a long time coming and Monster Hunter World is finally making its way to other gaming devices other than portable.

The game looks fantastic so far and it is going to make for one awesome hunting game. Set in a massive open world, Monster Hunter: World will be the first in the series to feature four-player online co-op where players will be able to band together with their friends to hunt and explore the world.

Get ready to take down massive creatures as you explore the world, gather crafting materials to make awesome gear, and set out to do it all over again.

8. Sea of Thieves – Xbox One, PC

Releasing: 2018

This Xbox exclusive will let you explore uncharted oceans as you and your online team search for treasure….like pirates do best.

While that sounds like an instant road to riches, there are some risks. Other players will try and stop you by any means and steal your treasure. You and your low-life team of pirates will fight back and the winners will walk away with the fame and riches beyond your wildest dreams.

Sea of Thieves is introducing a new co-op experience that looks like it is going to be a refreshing take on an old genre.

7. The Crew 2 – PS4, Xbox One, PC

Releasing: 16 March 2018

Racing across the entire United States of America has gotten even better now in the sequel thanks to its three modes of transport that can be accessed at any time. The sky is literally the limit as you can instantly change from a car to a plane and a boat at any moment in the game.

Feel like soaring through the air for a bit and then crashing into a lake to immediately speed away on a speedboat it a reality you face in The Crew 2, and it helps that the game looks great regardless of what vehicle you are in at that time of day.

6. Spider-Man – PS4

Releasing: 2018

From what I have seen of Insomniac Game’s latest open-world superhero game, I can say that I am pretty excited to get my hands on the game.

Peter Parker faces new challenges as he fights a mysterious threat that is threatening the people of New York City. The game takes on an open world vibe while borrowing inspiration from the Arkham series when it comes to its combat.

Let’s be honest here, whoever said no to taking control of Spider-Man and swinging around New York City?

5. Crackdown 3 – Xbox One, PC

Releasing: 2018

The Xbox One X needs a game to show off its power and we hope that answer is Crackdown 3. This sandbox game is all about mayhem and destruction as the player can literally destroy everything. Yes, the world is apparently completely destructible from top to bottom.

The game will make use of Microsoft’s powerful Azure servers allowing for even more cloud processing power. That, in hand with the Xbox One X will make for one baddass game where you can run around and break things. The perfect anger management if you ask me.

4. God of War – PS4

Releasing: 2018

Kratos is back and more humble than ever in the upcoming God of War. Many years have passed since Kratos took vengeance against the Olympic gods and while we all thought he was dead, he was actually not.

Kratos now has to take hold of that rage that still burns inside him and hopefully thanks to his son Atreus it will be possible.

Set in Norse mythology, the new God of War will be a refreshing step in a new direction that will see a new streamlined combat system, new exploration routes thanks to both Kratos and Atreus being controllable, and of course a deeper story of self-discovery.

3. Far Cry 5 – Xbox One, PS4, PC

Releasing: 2018

Now I have played this, it is awesome, and I cannot wait for it to release so we can take down Mr Joseph Seed who believes he has been chosen to protect the people of Hope County from the end of the world.

He, however, believes that you either follow him or you get beaten until you either die or change your mind. It gets worse as his army has moved into the state and taken control of it.

You band together with the locals to try and bring down the control freak and perhaps show that him that the only way his world will be ending is with a 9mm to his chest.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2 – PS4, Xbox One

Releasing: 2018

The highly anticipated sequel is actually a prequel that takes place before the original Red Dead game. Yes, I know it is called Red Dead Redemption 2, but it is the second game, it just came before.

The story follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch van der Linde gang as he gets tied up in well, gang things. We know very little about the story up to now but we can expect all the Red Dead action we love from the series set in a beautiful new place running on a stunning new engine.

1. Days Gone – PS4

Releasing: 2018

Just as post-apocalyptic games go, Days Gone is set in a world where the zombies have taken over. Not only the zombies though, animals have becomes zombies too.

Players control the game’s protagonist “Deacon St. John” a drifter and former bounty hunter who prefers to live a dangerous life on the road over living in wilderness encampments. It has been two years since the world ended and millions of people and animals have been turned into these undead creatures known as “freakers”.

You will need to survive the day, and fight the night as the world is your enemy, both living and dead.
