Bethesda has announced that this year’s QuakeCon will be an online-only event from 18 to 20 August.
The announcement states that QuakeCon 2022 will include new streaming programming, online meetups, giveaways, charity opportunities, and a virtual Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) event.
The BYOC used to be one of the biggest in-person annual LAN events in North America before the pandemic started in 2020.
Bethesda plans to return to Texas with the in-person event in 2023.
“We’re committed to returning with our full in-person festival in 2023, and are already looking forward to reconnecting with friends, a massive BYOC packed with your latest custom PC creations, our wild contests, and tons of great new games and hardware for attendees to try out,” said Bethesda.
QuakeCon isn’t the only gaming showcase affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, though, as it was recently announced that this year’s E3 is cancelled.
However, you shouldn’t be too upset about missing out on E3 2022 because there are plenty of other gaming shows still happening throughout the year, including Summer Game Fest and THQ’s Nordic Digital Showcase.
