Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak sells 2 million units

6 July 2022

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has surpassed 2 million units worldwide across PC and Switch.

This should be no surprise as Sunbreak has been in the top revenue charts on Steam for several weeks running.

Since it released its first title in 2004, the Monster Hunter Series has exceeded 84 million units with the highly successful Monster Hunter World and its G-Rank expansion Iceborne contributing an all-time record of 21 million units.

The base game of Monster Hunter Rise has also seen considerable success since its March release in 2021, surpassing 10 million units shipped worldwide.

Capcom has stated it intends to continue supporting Rise and Sunbreak and “will continue to leverage its digital strategy going forward, aiming to maximize unit sales with ongoing promotions, including the continued release of free additional content and pricing strategies.”

Given the massive success of both 5th generation games, fans of the series can rest assured that more games will be on the horizon beyond Rise and Sunbreak.
