Riot has indicated that they will eventually stop adding new champions to League of Legends to prevent scaring away new players.
League of Legends is one of the most prolific MOBAs in gaming history, and since its release, its roster of playable champions has grown to include 160 different characters.
Riot Games have indicated they have already planned when they will stop adding in new champions to prevent new players from being putt-off by a steep learning curve.
Due to the already gigantic number of playable characters and the vast array of abilities each boasts for new players, it can be difficult to learn the ins and outs of the game.
This information was disclosed during a Broken By Concept podcast interview with a Riot developer who stated the final release would happen when the development team could no longer add intuitive characters.
This is due to the development team’s desire to ensure that no champions are unintuitive – characters that are difficult to understand and make the game significantly more complex.
However, while the end of new heroes may eventually come, the development team still has plenty of new champions in mind.
So, for the time being, you can expect many new champions to come.
