Valve’s confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will be launching on Steam in November, and will include support for Steamworks features like auto-updating and achievements. But you already knew that, because it’s right there in the title.
The news isn’t exactly a shocker, although it’s probably worth noting simply because EA’s Battlefield 3 is giving Steam the skip this time around, due to some unresolved drama about Steam’s policies between the publisher and Valve. It’ll be interesting to see how or if this impacts Battlefield 3’s sales at all, although it’s probably safe to assume that both games will be all kinds of huge regardless.
Activision’s also taken the opportunity to remind everybody that, yes, they’ve chucked that IWNet stuff, and Modern Warfare 3 will use dedicated servers. Oorah.
Now that the game’s been added to Steam, it’s already available to preorder and preload ahead of its 8 November release, if playing games the very second they’re launched is your big thing.
