Another week, another set of huge releas- oh wait, hang on a sec, what’s this I see?
No super-stellar triple A+ titles being flung our way at a dizzying speed? Well this is certainly new.
While the week doesn’t have a HUGE launch title attached, it is one of the more padded weeks for games, as a whole lot of smaller, family-friendly titles sneak out in the wake of a block-buster month, and try to grab some spotlight ahead of the Christmas rush.
And before someone asks – both the PC versions for Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Batman: Arkham City are due 2 December as previously reported – so they’re not here yet; sorry. (Unless you’re getting it over Steam, in which case Batman will be available tomorrow – lucky you!)
Rayman Origins is being treated as an origins story by Ubisoft (I guess the clue was in the title) – telling a tale of Rayman and his friend, Globox, as they try to save the Glade of Dreams from a wealth of baddies from the Underworld.
The game is a visual treat, running off of Ubisoft’s new UbiArt engine – which allows artists to focus on doing art work, and the engine then does…stuff…to make it look cool. Or something.
The game features drop-in 4-player co-op and much side-scrolling platformer goodness – worth looking into, if you tire of the equine suicides of Skyrim, or feel bad for the pile of bodies you’ve amassed in MW3.
WWE 2012 (PS3/360/Wii)
The latest game based on America’s favourite day-time soapie is set to drop down this Friday, to captivate the audience who would rather interact with their favourite stars, than sit back and watch the drama unfold.
What will happen in this latest game? Will The Rock call Triple H’s mamma a hoe? Will the Undertaker smile once in a while? Will Golddust finally come out of the closet?
Who knows, but what you CAN expect is a reworking of the features that have made WWE games so popular – with the promise that the system has been refined and will feel more intuitive for players, new and old.
All your favourite characters will be there, with more promised via DLC – and they’ll almost certainly still be wearing brightly-coloured spandex. You know you love it.
Tekken Hybrid (PS3)
Tekken Hybrid isn’t a new Tekken game – it’s actually a combination of Tekken: Blood Vengeance, the CG movie which takes place between Tekken 5 and Tekken 6, as well as an HD re-mastering of Tekken Tag Tournament.
Yeah, the PS2 launch title one.
The BluRay movie will run on any player, but in order to play Tekken Tag HD you’ll need to run it on a PS3, and you’ll also have access to a demo for the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Stuff this into the Christmas stocking of the biggest Tekken fan.
